The famous Nottinghamshire operator, Barton Transport, is a long time favourite with model collectors, not least because of its memorable livery.
At one time it was the largest independent operator in the U.K., but it is best known for having operated an unparalleled variety of buses. One of the most memorable is now available in model form. In 1960, Barton commissioned a batch of ground breaking full-fronted Northern Counties-bodied AEC Regent Vs with wraparound windscreens on both decks. Now model collectors can now own their own 1/76 scale model of these handsome buses which were usually to be seen on Barton's premiere routes between Nottingham and Derby. The manufacturer, Next Stop Productions, (also known as Model Bus Reproductions) has produced this model which will suit not only kit builders but also collectors who prefer not to build their own buses because Next Stop offer an option of building the kit for their customers. The resin kit has been produced a range of pioneering techniques, including CAD, computer printing and moulding, and the kit comes with moulded windows, pop out glazing and metal wheels. Discreet early publicity of the project has already led to pre-orders exceeding initial supplies, so a further limited run has been produced. The unbuilt kit costs £48 which includes postage and packaging signed for.

The windows behind the Drivers cab have been swapped around to the correct spec, Destination inserts have been removed to allow for better transfers. The Parcels carried section on the rear now has an indent to match the reg plate. The front grille and headlights have been raised forward. Indicators have been removed so variants of this type can be recreated, so now you will get a set of indicators in with your kit. The interior has be revised. The drivers seat has been raised and on the upper deck, the stair partition has been corrected and a front panel has been added. |
